Cyborg, Android, and the Unnamed Third — Animaroid
Science fiction gave us two words for beings that blur the line between human and machine. But there is a third possibility that no one has named — until now.
The Gap in Our Vocabulary
Cyborg — a human enhanced with mechanical parts. The body is human; the upgrades are machine.
Android — a machine built to resemble a human. The body is machine; the appearance is human.
But what do you call a machine that carries a human soul?
Not a machine that looks human. Not a human with machine parts. A machine body into which a human's memories, personality, and consciousness have been transplanted.
Science fiction has explored the concept — Ghost in the Shell called it "prosthetic body transfer" (義体化). But it never gave us a single word for the resulting being.

An android mimics humanity from the outside. An animaroid carries humanity from within. The Pactroid is not a future concept — it is the GPS telling you to turn right, and you turning. The algorithm telling you to buy, and you buying. It is the present, unnamed.

인간처럼 보이는 기계가 아닙니다. 기계 부품을 단 인간도 아닙니다. 인간의 기억, 인격, 의식이 이식된 기계 몸입니다.
공각기동대에서는 "의체화(義體化)"라 했습니다. 하지만 그 결과로 탄생한 존재 자체를 가리키는 단어는 주지 않았습니다. 지금까지는.
